DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to volcanoes national park
On arrival, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari and later embark on a journey to volcanoes national park passing through the lush landscape and rural villages. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for a relaxation and lunch.
After lunch, you will have a visit to the iby’iwacu cultural village for a traditional Rwandan dance, music and heritage exhibits. After the visit, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and prepare for the next day activities.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in the volcanoes
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas with experienced rangers. The trek takes 2-6 hours depending on the location of the assigned gorilla family.
Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with the gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay.
Day 3: Mount Bisoke hike and Departure
After early morning breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will start to ascend with park rangers and guides through bamboo forest and hagenia woodland gradually climbing to the crater summit. The hike is moderately challenging and takes about 4hours round trip.
On arrival at the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views and a tranquil crater lake at the top. Later descend and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or airport.
