DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be greeted by the professional safari guide. After a short Kigali city your and later proceed with the journey to volcanoes national park in the Virunga mountains. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
After an early breakfast, head to the volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers. You will begin your gorilla trekking expedition through the misty forested slopes of the Virunga volcanoes.
Depending on the location of the assigned gorilla group, the trek can take from 2 to 6 hours. Once located, you will spend an hour observing and photographing the mountain gorillas as they feed, play and interact in their natural habitat. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and visit the iby’iwacu cultural village
After breakfast, transfer to the park entrance for a short briefing, then head into the bamboo zones of the forest to locate these rare and playful primates. Once the monkeys are located, you will spend an hour with them. After the golden monkey trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the nearby iby’iwacu cultural village. You will enjoy traditional Rwandans music, dances and story telling plus insight into the life of ex-poachers who have now turned into conservationists and cultural ambassadors. After the visit, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Visit Dian Fossey grave and departure
Ater an early breakfast, embark on a memorable hike to Dian Fossey grave site located between mount Karisimbi and mount Bisoke. This trek approximately 3-4hours roundtrip and offers not only beautiful forest scenery and potential wildlife sightings but also a powerful insight into the legacy of Dian Fossey, the famous American primatologist who dedicated her life to gorilla conservation.

After the hike, return to the lodge, freshen up and begin the drive back to Kigali for your outbound flight or drop off at your hotel.
