DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will meet the safari guide and embark on the journey to Musanze the gate way to volcanoes national park. enjoy scenic views of Rwanda’s rolling hills. On arrival, check into the lodge and prepare for the next day activities.
Day 2: Hike mount bisoke
After early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, begin the hike to mount Bisoke a full day trek to the summit at 3,711 meters. The trail passes through bamboo forests and afro-alpine vegetation, leading to a beautiful crater lake at the top. Enjoy panoramic views of the Virunga volcanoes. Return to the base and return back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Mount Karisimbi hike
After breakfast, begin your Mount Karisimbi hike, the highest of the Virunga volcanoes. The trek starts in the forested base and gradually ascends through bamboo zones and misty terrain. Reach the overnight camp at around 3,700m and settle for the night in tents provided by park authorities.
Day 4: Karisimbi summit and descend
Wake up early and hike to the summit of Mount Karisimbi for sunrise views across Rwanda and the democratic republic of Congo. After a rewarding moment at the peak, descend back down and return to the base. After return to the lodge for a relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 5: cultural visit and transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, visit the iby’iwacu cultural village for a cultural experience showcasing Rwandan traditions and heritage. After embark on the journey back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you will have a short city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial, kimironko market and local art craft shops where you can purchase some souvenirs. After the city tour, you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home.
